A few years ago, "vaginal rejuvenation" was a term most women in North Dakota would never have said out loud. Now it's one of the most-requested consultations at our Bismarck clinic. Word of mouth from friends, sisters, coworkers, and church groups (yes, really) has gone from awkward whispering to genuine recommendations. And it's about time.
If you've been quietly curious — because something has felt "off" since your last baby, since menopause, since just life — here's a real, frank conversation about what vaginal rejuvenation actually is, why women are doing it, and what to expect.
First — what does "vaginal rejuvenation" mean?
The term is a bit of an umbrella. At GLOW, vaginal rejuvenation refers to a series of non-surgical, in-clinic treatments designed to improve the function, sensation, hydration, tone, and (for some patients) the appearance of the intimate area. The treatments we use are part of the EmpowerRF platform — radiofrequency and electrical muscle stimulation technologies that stimulate your body's own repair and rebuilding mechanisms.
What it is not: surgery. No incisions. No anesthesia. No recovery. No "vaginoplasty." We're not doing what a surgeon does in an OR. We're using regenerative technology to help your tissues heal and function better.
Why women are pursuing it
The reasons we hear most often:
"I never felt fully restored after my kids. Things are looser. Things feel different. I want to feel like me again."
"Dryness, discomfort, lower sensation, painful intimacy. My doctor said it's normal. It doesn't feel normal to me."
"I'm leaking when I sneeze, jump, or laugh. It's been getting worse, and I'm not ready for a bladder sling."
"My partner and I haven't had a real intimate relationship in years. I want to want it again. I want to feel something again."
These aren't vanity concerns. These are quality-of-life concerns. They affect marriages, mental health, exercise habits, and how often a woman feels comfortable in her own skin.
This isn't about looking different. It's about feeling different — and most patients tell us afterward that "different" feels a lot like the version of themselves they thought they'd lost.
What the treatments actually do
We use three primary technologies from the EmpowerRF platform, and we customize the combination based on what you need.
VTone
Gentle electrical muscle stimulation that strengthens and tones the pelvic floor. Addresses bladder leaks, weakness, and the "looseness" that comes from childbirth or aging.
FormaV
Comfortable, deep radiofrequency heating that improves blood flow, hydration, and tissue health. Addresses dryness, decreased sensation, and discomfort.
Morpheus8V
A more intensive fractional radiofrequency treatment that remodels deeper tissue layers — used for patients with significant laxity or post-pregnancy changes who want bigger results.
What a treatment day looks like
Your first visit at GLOW is a private, sit-down conversation. No exam unless you want one. We talk through what you're experiencing and what you'd like to change.
If you choose to move forward, treatment days look like this:
- You arrive at our Bismarck clinic. Private room, comfortable setting.
- A female provider walks you through what to expect.
- The treatment itself takes 20 to 45 minutes depending on which technology is being used.
- You walk out, drive yourself home, and go about your day.
There is no anesthesia. No incisions. No catheters. No recovery time. The most common feedback we get post-treatment: "That was way easier than I expected."
How quickly does it work?
Most patients notice some improvement after the first or second session. Full results build over a series of 3 to 6 treatments, depending on which technologies you're using and what you're addressing.
Bladder control improvements often show up first. Sensation and tissue changes build over the weeks following treatment, as your body produces new collagen and improved blood flow. Long-term, an annual maintenance session keeps results going strong.
Is it safe?
Yes. EmpowerRF is FDA-cleared, and the technologies it uses (radiofrequency and electrical muscle stimulation) have decades of safe use across multiple specialties. Side effects are typically minimal: some patients experience mild warmth or slight redness for a few hours after treatment.
The treatments are not appropriate for women who are pregnant, have certain implanted devices, or have specific medical conditions. We screen every patient at the consultation to make sure it's a fit for you.
Who is and isn't a candidate
Great candidates:
- Women post-childbirth dealing with laxity or bladder changes
- Women in perimenopause or menopause with dryness or discomfort
- Women dealing with stress, urge, or mixed urinary incontinence
- Women who don't want surgery but want real improvement
- Women looking to improve intimacy and confidence
Not a fit:
- Pregnancy
- Active pelvic infection
- Certain implanted electronic devices
- Severe prolapse that may require surgical intervention
We'll always tell you honestly if you're not a candidate — and refer you to the right provider if surgery is the better path.
You're allowed to want this
The biggest thing we want women in North Dakota to know is that wanting to feel good in your own body — including in your intimate life — is not vain, not silly, and not something to be ashamed of asking about.
For decades women were taught to just "deal with" the after-effects of childbirth and aging. That era is ending, slowly. Treatments like these are a big part of why.
Come talk to us. There's nothing to be embarrassed about. You'd be surprised how many women in your community have already been through our doors and are quietly living lives they didn't think they could get back.
